I've been trying to figure out why this truck overheats.
Watching the temp gauge it seems that every time the them stat opens it loses water but I cant find a leak anywhere.
The engine is well used but I use it just for moving things a getting pellets for the stove.
Can't find a sign of a leak anywhere. Hoping you can help.

Is it actually getting low on coolant or does it just seem like it is losing water?

It loses anywhere from 1 to 2 quarts of water depending how far you drive, and the overflow jug doesn't seem to be recirclating the water. Its always full where the radiator not.

It has to be going somewhere. Have you checked the engine oil to see if it is getting in there? Is there any white smoke from the exhaust?

One other thought. When the engine is cold, remove the radiator cap, make sure the coolant is full in the radiator, and start the engine. Does the coolant shoot out of the rad?

It blows bluewhite smoke which turns more blue when your driving.
Ther is no water in oil and it runs just fine before it overheats.
Cant seem to find any sign of a leak.

Okay. Let me know. Something is telling me there is a bad head gasket and coolant is getting burned in the combustion chamber. I hope I'm wrong.
