What is the proper procedure to diagnose the glow plug system? 1986 pup. 2.2 diesel. Have no power to system. Please start at ignition switch and go through entire system.

Remove the buzz bar, that is the connection between the glow plugs, with a multi meter set on continuity, (the meter buzzes when probes touched together) place one end on the body of the glow plug and the other on the thread, if it buzzes it is ok, if you have a dead plug, replace all, next place test light on re connected buzz bar and turn on ignition bar should become active, for a few seconds then shut off, duration will depend on engine temp, cold engine longer glow, start here.
