I was driving down road & went to push clutch in & the RPM jumped up to 6000 & I could not kick it down. I had to ride brake all the way back home.

Wow! You're lucky you didn't have an accident. Have you checked the throttle and throttle cable to see if something stuck? Also, the gas pedal in the vehicle?

Is the throttle plate closing when the gas pedal is released? For it to rev that high, something must be holding it open.
