Brake lights stay on

My brake lights stay on and they don't respond when I apply them.
Could this be a switch adjustment of replacement or could this be something else. Thanks

COULD BE THAT IT HAS WORKED IT'S WAY LOOSE,

IT MIGHT BE SORTA DANGLIN' IN IT'S MOUNTING HOLE AND NOT CONTACTING THE BRAKE PEDAL WELL

OR LIKE ASEMaster6371 SAID, IT MAY BE SHOT

THIS THING IS LOCATED ON THE UPPER END OF YOUR BRAKE PEDAL ARM

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE:

YOU MAY NEED TO BE A CONTORTIONIST TO MESS WITH IT---A LARGE HAND MIRROR MIGHT HELP IN SEEING IT (WHILE YOUR SPINE IS STILL INTACT) YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE THE MIRROR TO WORK ON IT TOO

HAVE LOTS OF FUN!

I fixed it. The cushion or pad between the brake pedal & the switch button had broken off. Cost me $1.09 for the temp fix with a 5mm screw. Here is where I found the correct answer with a photo and it works.
