While driving my car seems to have a pretty constant missfire. It's less noticeable at idle and lower speeds but still there. Recently I've noticed it almost seems like the motor will cut out/lock up/hesitate and fall on its nose when I speed up right before it shifts into over drive. This doesn't happen every time I drive but enough to worry/scare me. It's also hard to start after I've drove and let it cool down for half hour to hour. Fires up just fine first thing in the morning tho. However everytime I start it I always have to let it warm up for a bit otherwise it idles funny when driving until it's warmed up. Don't know what's to blame here? Changed a plug and four wires (haven't got to the other ones yet) new cap and rotor. Ran better for a while after these changes but slipped back into It's old habits. Idle is still back to normal besides the missfire. It's got an electric quadrajet carburetor on it. Any ideas?

I think you were on the right track with the plugs and wires. However, you need to get them all replaced so we know if that is the issue. There could be a few things causing this. If the tune up doesn't help, we then need to check fuel pump pressure, check for vacuum leaks, and check things such as the coolant temp sensor.

Finish the tune up and let me know if it takes care of the problem.
