83 toyota pickup

I just bought an 83 toyota pickup, it sat for bout 5 months and when you first start it it idles at about 2500 rpm and after it idles down it will go below 2000 and keep going down than it will die unless i keep my foot on the gas and it does the same thing when i drive it. What causes this problem?

Is this a carburetted model?

Yes, it actually was the carb that was doing it. I just had to adjust the idling
