MAYBE THE TIMING CHAIN HAS MEGA SLACK IN IT, IT MAY BE RUBBING THE HOUSING

BE CAREFUL!

TAKE THE OLE TOILET PLUNGER HANDLE (LOSE THE RUBBER PART- KINDA DON'T WANT THAT IN YOUR EAR!) AND HOLD IT ON THE HOUSING (ANY CLEAR SPOT), STICK YOUR EAR TO IT, IS THIS THE SOURCE OF THE SOUND?

IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU CAN'T STAY OUT OF THE PESKY MOVING PARTS, DON'T EVEN ATTEMPT THIS!

HERE'S A PIC OF MY 1977 CJ-5s 258 6 CYLINDER TIMING COVER, SEE WHERE IT STARTED RUBBING?

I WENT ALL OUT AND SPENT THE EXTRA MONEY AND INSTALLED A CLOYES TRUE ROLLER, HE RUNS SO MUCH BETTER WITH THE PRECISION TIMING SET

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU FIND
