The motor cranks with plenty of juice from the battery and gas hits the carburator but the car doesn't start. When I turh the key the key doesn't return and the starter stays engaged, could this be the switch spring gone bad or would it be the tumbler assembly although it is very smooth and easy to turn when not connected to the switch. Got any pointers? The module, coil and other related components are under 2 years new. Don't know what to do next can you help me?
Do you
have the same problem?

YOU MIGHT HAVE JUST ONE PROBLEM

...............OR MAYBE TWO

1) SOUNDS LIKE YOUR IGNITION SWITCH MAY BE BAD...NOT SPRINGING BACK (THIS IS A "GIVEN").......IT MIGHT BE THAT IT'S FALLING APART INSIDE (REASON FOR NOT STARTING/ BUSTING OFF)

IT MIGHT BE THAT YOU HAVE THE SECOND PROBLEM.....SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE IGNITION SYSTEM

I CAN AID YOU THRU THE WHOLE DEAL...AS LONG AS YOU CONTINUE TO RESPOND AND GIVE ACCURATE INFO ON SOME TESTING WE MAY HAVE TO DO

FIRST..........LET'S REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH....NEEDS IT ANYWAY.....MAY SOLVE THE WHOLE PROBLEM

..............IF NOT, KEEP WORKING WITH ME!

I HAVE TWO "REAL" JEEPS---THE SWITCH IS ALMOST IDENTICAL

I TOOK PICS OF A FORD TRUCK IGNITION SWITCH "TASK" THAT I REPLACED FOR A FRIEND

HERE'S THE LINK TO IT......WHEN YOU SEE *******s, THIS WAS WORKS LIKE "K.NOB" ETC, THAT THE AUTOMATIC CENSOR THOUGHT COULD BE A "BAD WORD" AND MADE THINGS MORE CONFUSING WITH THE *****
https://www.2carpros.com/questions/1989-ford-f-250-remove-ignition

BE SURE TO SEE THE PICS AT THE END OF THAT POST

RETURN TO THIS THREAD AND LEMME KNOW IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO THIS TASK

DO YOU HAVE A VOLTMETER, JUST IN CASE WE MUST DO MORE TESTING AS TO THE "NO START"?

Ok so I bought the switch And with the new one it still sticks"on". I think its the tumbler thats bad but heck I am new at this and dont know much. Ok I just may know what the cause of the non start is. You know the gas intake connector on the front of the carb, its a two barrel motorcraft 2150, well the female end on the carborator is strpped the inside threads. Looks like I am gonna have to replace the carb. Maybe in couple months can not $$$$ it. Do you think it can be fixed? But the starter still it sticks erg.

LOOKS LIKE A NEW CARB

THE NEEDLE AND SEAT (CARB GAS VALVE) AND FLOAT ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STRIPPED FITTING (IF I READ YOU RIGHT) ----IT IS CRITICAL THEY REMAIN AS THEY ARE.....I DON'T SEE A FIX

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?????

"But the starter still it sticks erg." FEEL FREE TO ELABORATE!

HERE'S $40 BUCKS OFF CARB, OR MIGHT NEAR ANYTHING, IF YOU ORDER THIS ONLINE AT "ADVANCE AUTO PARTS" AND USE THIS TECHNIQUE (SIMILAR SYSTEM MAY WORK AT OTHER STORES)

CHECK OUT MY LINK....IT'S LONG......CHECK IT OUT GOOD!.......MAYBE WORTH IT!...."A124" DID WORK FOR ME RECENTLY.....I HAVE SAVED OVER $1000 OVER A FEW MONTHS TIME........MY PALS TOO!

Here is a photog of my truck and the mechanic said it was sound motor wise but that somewhere there was a relay that was not alowing stability in the current and that an electrican was needed. Hope you like the picture.
