Check coil resistance primary 1-3 ohms secondary 8000-12000 ohms see pic and you can use a test light or volt meter instead of bulb to test it. If this doesn't show enough I have it in pdf as long as you can read pdf on your computer.

I RECKON THIS IS A 258 (4.2L)

KINDA WHAT IS A LITTLE HISTORY AS TO JUST BEFORE "WE AIN'T GOT ANY FIRE"?

DID IT JUST DIE? OR WERE YOU ADDING NEW PARTS, AND NOW NO SPARK?

IS UNDER THE HOOD CLOSE TO FACTORY, OR HAS IT GOT LOTS OF MODIFICATIONS FROM OVER THE YEARS?

ARE WE DEALING WITH AN ORIGINAL IGNITION SET-UP, OR HAS IT GOT AFTERMARKET "SAID TO BE BETTER STUFF"?

TELL ME WHAT NUMBERS YOU GET IN PIC 1, WITH THE KEY ON
