Wanting to know what engine I have. But the engine identification numbers on the front are not agreeing with the casting numbers on the back.

V0517crc is on the pad on the front of the engine

14010201 is the number cast into the back.

small block Chevrolet.

Write the VIN number down. It's on the l/side of the top dash the parts department at the dealer can tell you that from that number. Just call them.

That would be correct if the engine is the original. But is not.

Good evening,

The stock motor was a 229 V6.

The number you gave me off the front was a re manufactures tag for when they rebuilt it. It is a small block between a 267 and a 400 cubic inch engine. Once the heads are removed and the cylinder bore measured, then you can get the actual size. It most likely was bored out larger than original.

Sorry I cannot give you exact information but with this you have to wait until it is torn down to get the actual size.

Roy
