1980 AMC Concord Repair Question

Amc concord

How do you tighten up the 1979 amc concord alternator belt? My battery is dying and i think its the alternator belt being to loose battery holds a charge and the dvom says the alternator is putting out 14v.

If the alternator is putting out 14V, then that is not the problem. Check the battery cables for corrosion or if they are loose. Also, have the battery load tested.

Is the belt making any noise to indicate it is loose? There should be aprox 3/4" play in it. As far as tightening it, loosten the mounting bracket bolts and then with a pry bar, old pressure on it to tighten it. Once the belt is tight enough, retighten the bolts.
