1976 Volkswagen Beetle Repair Question

Check oil light always on
The oil light on my beetle is always on. I've checked the oil, and it doesn't need any. We know it has a very slow leak, so we're concerned about the oil pressure. What do I need to check? What might need to be replaced?

You remove the sender, screw in an oil testing gauge and take readings, on one this old I dont have the pressure spec, but the rule of thumb is 10 psi for each 1000 rpm's. Your post shows 0 miles on a 1976, I doubt that's correct? Sender may be the problem, or the light circuit, or worn engine parts, weak oil pump.

ok. The odometer reads 23,265k, but the engine has been replaced so that's not accurate.

Advice still the same, pressure check the oil pump.
