My friend has a 1970 Mercury Marquis, its having trouble starting and running, what could it be?

Well thats a good point, and I checked the compression and it check out, the timing is perfect, and its getting gas, the only thing I cant exactly tell is if the spark is completely good, its hard to tell with a light hovering over it
