Mercedes Benz Other Maintenance Problem
I have a 1969; 230; 6 cylinder; column shift; w114 car with almost 90 000 miles on the clock; factory original.
The car stuck in reverse. When you put it in neutral, the reverse gear is still engaged.
I adjusted the reverse gear link one notch. It got better.
I returned the link to the original position as a test.
It can now not engage into reverse gear at all, irrespective of changing the reverse gear link position + or - from the original position.
It seems as if there could be a problem with the mechanism controlling and moving the links.
I replaced the nylon bushes long ago as maintenance, although there were no problems then and the bushes were not worn much. It worked fine for many years (10 000 miles), until now.
