I'm managing a restoration project on a 1946 Ford flatbed truck that I'm going to use in a mobile food business. It currently has a mid 1960s Chevy 327, but its not really running great. I was wondering what you would reccommend for a replacement engine and transmission. This isn't a competition restoration. I just need it to be solid, dependable and highway worthy as a daily driver. I haven't settled on a machanic yet, but I wanted to get some expert advice while I'm lookinng at shops.

Also if you have any after market parts suppliers you could refer me to, I would appreciate it.

Unless you plan on cutting and welding, to the best of my knowledge you'll have to use a small block Chevy (GM) engine and trans. The 327 is a good engine for your needs. The 350 trans series is a great automatic transmission. Reliable. Tough. Relatively economical.

The parts suppliers I use are all performance parts. Autozone. Pep Boys. O'Reilly's. They're all pretty good and low cost. If you want parts professionals with more knowledge, talk to a shop and ask where they get their parts.

THIS IS MY APPROACH FOR THE "SHOP". SEE MY LINK

https://www.2carpros.com/questions/2003-nissan-altima-gas-line-leak-near-tank-told-running-tank-tank-itself

AS FAR AS POPULAR STUFF, ANY PARTS STORE MIGHT HAVE 'EM AND BE NORMALLY THEY ARE COMPETITIVE. YOU MIGHT RUN TO THIS ONE AND SAVE A BUCK, THE OTHER ACROSS TOWN SAVE TWO BUCKS. YOU KINDA GOTTA KEEP UP WITH 'EM OR MAKE LOTS OF CALLS TO SAVE THAT BUCK.

I FIND THAT "NAPA" WILL USUALLY HAVE THAT "UNUSUAL OR VINTAGE KINDA PART" (LOCAL/ "RIGHT NOW" PART) WHEN NOBODY ELSE DOES.

INTRODUCING THE "CJ MEDEVAC" SHOP AT ONE STORE AND SAVE THE BIG BUCKS TECHNIQUE!

I HAVE THE 1ST HAND EXPERIENCE WITH "ADVANCE AUTO PARTS" THEY ARE MOSTLY ON THE EASTERN SIDE OF THE U.S., BUT I THINK YOU CAN ORDER FROM THEM ANYWHERE. THIS SORTA KINDA TECHNIQUE "CAN" WORK AT OTHER PLACES. YOU WILL HAVE TO DO THE HOMEWORK FOR THEM.

I'VE ALREADY DONE THE HOMEWORK FOR "ADVANCE" FOR YOU! READ THE HOWs AND WHYs OF HOW TO MAX OUT THE TECHNIQUE, WHEN YOU CROSS THE PROMO CODE LIMIT (EVEN BY ONLY A PENNY) SUBMIT THAT, THEN START A NEW ORDER!

YOU WILL HAVE TO DO THE MATH SO THAT THESE 3 ITEMS GET YOU TO THE LIMIT, THE NEXT 4 OR 5 GETS YOU TO THE LIMIT (2ND ORDER) THE LAST 2 COMBINED MIGHT GET YOU OVER A HURDLE (3RD ORDER) YOU MIGHT SAVE $120 DOIN' IT THIS WAY! PICK UP AT THE STORE IN 30 MINUTES (LIKE YOU WOULD DO ANYWAY!)

YOU WILL SEE! TRUST ME! RIGHT NOW/ STILL "A124" IS STILL WORKING, HAS BEEN FOR OVER TWO YEARS! THIS HAS SAVED ME AND MY BUDDIES THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. SEE THIS LINK I HAVE PICS AT THE END/ STUDY IT! LEMME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! ANY QUESTIONS?
