Hey mr wonderful just my kind of man I am a 72 yr old grandmother and still working on my car. Used to think of it as funand then it got so complicated and ridiculously expensive. I am studying my online chilton manual a lot for my ailing 94 1.9l escort lx boy is it a bd to work on. Need a midget for that engine---with small hands. I put curtain rod pieces on my ratchets to reach the water pump bolts. And other little stupid things. Read that @1 plug was really hard to get to -- a guy on utube said he just took his alternator off. Been meaning to get on there and tell them the way I did it. A swivel and long extension can be wiggled right in that plug hole if you have the patience. After asking the question, I was told that anew carburetor was on the way. Hand choke? I always like them. I will suggest it. Truck belongs to my daughter. I call it the beast --she loves it. She works on them too. S does my other girl. Had to learn no men to help no money to pay 70 an hour to a shop We are pretty well set up on tools etc. Just got a roll around box. Very good idea. Woe is me. Bad news. Thought had solved prolem of drive belts on for escordt `.9l lx auto w air and popwer----put timinb and serpentine belt on it---it is vibrating, kinod noisy whir and roars when give it gas--putting silicrone on ends of unreplaceable vacuum line going to fuel presssure regulator seemed to make it idle a lot better-but- listen to this tale of woe--my nephew imakes a living as a mechanic---doesnt know diagnostics but good at remove and replace----paid him to put belts on car---b ecause I had put them on and car vibrated. Newphew left, started to drive car, vibrating and roaring, shaking thing off dash---i took belts off and put them back on. The timing belt is tricky on this one as the right side of it has no tensioner--a real bas to get tight. I have visually ispected belts and they appear to be set right and in the right configuration. Am goind out now it is dark but I have a good light and six flashlightsi should be good at taking them apart I have done it so often. But it is a real job being 3 inches from the fender. Any idea what I could have done wrong to make it act this way? Tightened crank pulley, could belts have gone bad from putting them on so many time they feel plenty right enough and look alright. Didnt have this trouble with my pickups and my 80 for van I drove for 12 years. Had to give it up gas too much had totally rebuilt it starting with new engine. I hpe to have abetter day sometime. By for now thanks for more or less holding my hand I live near cincinnati ohio

I SUSPECT THE TIMING MARKS ON THE SPROCKETS WERE NOT LINED UP EXACTLY RIGHT WHEN THE BELT WAS INSTALLED

YES---DANGLING VACUUM LINES SUCK IN TOO MUCH AIR AND SHOULD BE PUT BACK ONTO WHAT THEY GO ONOR IF THEY NO LONGER DO ANYTHINGSTICK A SMALL BOLT IN THE END

A $30 REPAIR MANUAL WOULD AID YOU AND YOUR CAR FELLER WELL----WINGING STUFF JUST DON'T CUT IT!

We have a manual, I get online instructions from cincy librayr- I access their chilton manuals---it is great I get diagrams of everything= but some are not just like my car===and the d. Diagrams are justl strait lines==the actual ones go all over the place===i am learning what eaCH LITTLE PART IS AND WHAT IT DOES THROUGH COMPONENT PICTURES, ETC. \ I THOUGHT I HAD THOSE D. MARKS LINED UP PERFECT TOP AND BOTTOM====YOU THNK THAT BEING JUST A bubble off could make it shake like the dog and the peach seed? I am originally from southern ky. Family moved here for jobs---when I was teenager. Do you know where Morganton is? I have an antique dresser made there. Would like to know how old it is. Bye for now

BEING OFF WITH THE BELT BY ONE NOTCH IS NOT GOOD

WHEN IT IS IDLINGON ROAD PUSH GAS PEDAL, SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROAR, THEN WHEN REACHES SPEED, IDLES DOWN RUNS NICELY UNTIL ENGINE IS PUT UNDER STRESS AGAIN BY PUSHING GAS PEDAL PUSHING ON BRAKE SEEMS TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE--NOT AS NOISY AND SHAKEYGOING TO CHILTONS WEB PAGE AND GET TROUBLE CODES ETC. I DON'T LIKE STRETCHING MY OLD BRAIN LIKE THIS. GOT BETTER THINGS TO DO. BUT I DO STILL LEARN PRETTY FAST. I DONT KNOW IF I CAN EMAIL A VIDEO OR NOT. I'LL SEE AABOUT IT. Got my obd1 codes retrieval diagram and instructions and each trouble code numbewr et. Dont know where self test in (sn) (trigger) is where does jumper wire go from and to? Have a circuit tester that works thing under hood by firewall next to battery called obdi diagnostic connecter

FOUND THE CLICKETY CLC-- METL SHILE RUSTED ENOUGH TORATTLE WHEW MAYBE NOT SO GOOD IS THE ROTOR ON THAT PASSENGER SIDE LOOSE, GONNA GO IN THERE AND SEE WHAT ITS PROBLEM IS. NEPHEW PUT THOSE BRAKES ON FOR ME. AND- GEE ME FOUND DIAGNOSTIC SN WIRE, UNPLUGGED IT AND NOW CAN'T FIND WIRE IT WAS PLUGGED INTO. DUM DUM DUM
