' 99 Subaru Legacy goes into gear but oesnt Move or stall?

Hey, my Subaru Legacy will start and all but when you put it into gear it wont move it will just rev up and when I tried to stall it, the car just stayed on as if it was still in neutral. Who can help me so then I can buy the part and get it to a mechanic?

Start by making sure the trans fluid is clean and full. Also, check to make sure the linkage to the transmission is working properly. It sounds like there is a possible transmission problem.
