Pontiac SSE Repair Questions and Answers

Question:  1993 Pontiac SSE mileage: 72,000. I am looking for a reasonably priced "Heater Hose Clamp Tool." Kent Moore wants $200+ for theirs. I have an offset and a straight pliers type clamp tool, but they will not maneuver into the space between the strut tower and the A/C accumulator. I understand that the heater core outlets are plastic and I do not want to break them. This is for preventative maintenance. I have considered modifying a "C" clamp or something to use the first time and replace the clamps with screw type hose clamps.

Answer:  Unfortunately, the prices of specialized tools are expensive, but you can shop around. Snap-On, Mac or Cornwell tools, may have a better price. After you have removed the heater hose clamps, be extremely careful removing the hose from the heater core outlets. We slit the hose and "peel" them off the outlet.
