MORE: Pontiac Firefly Repair Questions

Question:  1989 Pontiac Firefly.  When you turn on the headlights or park lights the 15-amp fuse marked tail in the fuse box will blow.  This fuse has nothing to do with the headlights it is the fuse for the dome light and dash lights etc. once the fuse is blown or you remove the fuse from the circuit.  There will be no problem with the headlights and if the headlights are turned off, you will be able to replace the fuse and the dome lights and dash lights will work fine until you turn on headlights thanks, Boyd

Answer:  It seems you have a bad ground connection.  Check the various ground wires with an Ohmmeter for resistance.

Question: 1989 Pontiac Firefly 3 cylinder. My car will not start. It' making the rolling noise but will not quite roll over. I checked the timing belt it's not that. The spark plugs are new and so is the battery. I live in the Maritimes so it is starting to get cold here. Could that have something to do with it? Please help! I know it is probably something simple. Any advice?

Answer: Check the starter. The starter drive may have failed.
