Opel Repair Questions and Answers

Question: 1993 Opel Corsa 1.2 mileage: 40,000. My little car is a European make, but the problem is common. When I get out of the car after switching the engine off, there is often a smell of petrol (gas). The spark plugs have also been known to get wet when first started, sometimes causing the engine not to start. I have renewed the plugs, but the smell is still there.

Answer:  Assuming the car is fuel injected we would look for a faulty fuel pressure regulator or some fuel injectors that are leaking internally.

Question:  1992 Opel Kadett 1196 mileage: 77,000 Miles.  There is a loud noise coming from (it seems) under the car or from the lower part of the engine.  It only happens when the car is moving so I can't pinpoint the location.  If I apply the brakes then the noise disappears completely.  Could there be something rubbing against the brakes?  There is no noise at all when the car is stopped and the engine is revved up.  In addition, there is much less noise when I accelerate.

Answer:  Check the brake pads, you may be ready for brakes.
