MORE: Nissan Frontier Repair Questions

Question:  1998 Nissan Frontier 2WD 2.4L mileage: 25,000.  I have deep grooves in my front rotors but very little wear on the disc pads. The dealer says this is normal because the pads are semi metallic.  I don’t agree because the rotors will be destroyed before the pads ever wear out.

Answer:  We recommend replacing the brake rotors if that is the case when doing a brake pad replacement. The rotors can be machined, but brand new factory rotors are very inexpensive and you know that they will work like new.
