Question: 1995
Mercedes Benz S420 4.2-liter, mileage 73,000. My
Automatic Slip Control System (ASR) is locked on and no
one can repair it. The Mercedes Benz Dealer in Memphis,
Tn, kept the car for four days and could not fix the
problem. Any ideas? When the ASR System is on, the car's
acceleration is greatly reduced so that it just creeps
along on takeoff.
Answer: No doubt, a sensor or one
of several on board computers has failed. Call a factory
representative for Mercedes Benz. We are sure the
factory technicians can find the problem or instruct the
dealer as to how to fix it.
