Kia Spectra Car Repair Questions and Answers

Question: 2004 Kia Spectra 4
cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 66000 miles I was driving my car and I thought I
smelled burning rubber. When I stopped to see what the problem might be I
noticed a fairly good sized puddle of oil under my car and could see it dripping
off the oil pan I believe. What are all the possible reasons that a good amount
of oil would have leaked out in such a short period of time?
Answer: Check that the oil
filter is tight and the oil pressure switch is not leaking. Check these first
and report back if these are ok.
Question: 2001 Kia Spectra 4
cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 127000 miles I have a 2001 kia spectra that I
put allot of miles on for work. recently I had both belts (power steering, which
had broke&the alternator) replaced. I thought that I had accomplished something.
but soon as I drove it, I noticed a screaming screeching sound when I
accelerated till about 40 mph when it changed gears, also did this when I slowed
down, plus when it did this the head lights would dim. so a couple months passed
till finally my new alternator belt broke. I assumed it must need a new
alternator, so I replaced the old with a new one thinking this should do the
trick. unfortunately it only seemed better at first but after driving it about
10 miles it went back to belts squalling and head lights dimming again .I talked
to some buddies and as far as anybody can tell they think maybe some electrical
problem causing this. any suggestions?
Answer: if the belts
are squealing the chances are your belt is slipping and if its slipping on the
alternator it wont charge the battery properly and that will cause the lights to
dim. make sure you have the belt properly tightened and the pulleys are lined up
and turning straight.
Question: 2002 Kia Spectra 4
cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual my mother in law put a battery in her kia wrong and
hooked the cables up wrong the ecu was burnt up so I replaced it with a new one
all the fuses and relays check fine but nothing electrical works at all could
the wiring harness have possibly burnt somewhere also and if not what could be
the problem
Answer: You will have to
start from the beginning, there is a strong chance that the loom may be
compromised, this should be checked as if it is there is a chance that the new
ECU will be damaged again.
