Kia Sorento Car Repair Questions and Answers

Question: I have A 2003 Kia
Sorento I purchased a new battery about 7 months ago. I own an Innova scanner
that is fairly easy to use and quick for checking if monitors are ready for
emissions. I drove the car about 6000 miles and the evap monitor never cleared
so I reset the computer with the scanner and it has been about 3000 miles and
the evap monitor still hasn't cleared .There are not any codes present nor has
there been so what could be the problem and how should I explain or demand the
dealer to do since the vehicle is still covered under warranty.
Answer: Pleade ignorance
first of all. They are less likely to bro you down if you have been in there
working on it while it is under warranty, unless you are a certified technician.
Why were you checking the monitors in the first place? check engine light? Let
them know that you have a scan tool and that the monitors wont set for the EVAp
and that you cant pass an inspection (depending on where you are) unless they
do. There may be an update for the PCM or something to that effect. Get it on
record that there is a problem with emissions before your warranty expires
