Kia Rio Car Repair Questions and Answers

Question: 2001 Kia Rio 4 cyl
Two Wheel Drive Manual 50000 miles I have got a KIA RIO LS TOP purchased in
December 2001. After about two years, very often the yellow check light turned
on. Soon I took the car to Kia Service Centre of my City. They checked the
events memory and diagnosed the problem was caused from the debimeter/ air flow
meter malfunction.. They replaced it and the problem was solved. But not much
time after, very serious problems began.
Read below.
a) the minimum RPM is not uniform. The situation gets worse if I use air
conditioned;
b) the car runs with speed not uniform. The RPM increases and decreases without
to use the accelerator;
c) very often I take away the foot from the accelerator and the RPM doesn't
decrease, even if the accelerator pedal is off. Only after some seconds (5-7)
the RPM decreases.
When the mechanic checks the car the computer's display shows : NO DEFECT.
Answer: I would take it to a
shop with the ability to put it on a real scanner to watch the sensors working,
might be a slow/lazy o2 sensor
Question: 2004 Kia Rio 4 cyl
Type unknown Automatic 55000 miles I have been told our drain plug is missing
and this is why our engine froze up on us. dealership that did last oil change
(Dec. 5,2007) says it's not possible to have the oil plug missing and for us to
not have had problems before our engine froze. My husband was driving our
vehicle and he said it felt like something fell out from the bottom of the car
and then oil light and engine light came on and it stalled. We did not have any
indication of a problem before this. I told them if I did have a problem I would
have taken it in immediately because it is under warranty. Would it have been
possible if the drain plug was loose for it not to have shown problems till now?
Have you ever heard of this happening.
Answer: If it was loose you
would notice oil on the ground probably and it would have felon out within the
weak unless it was tightened half-*bad word* and it finally vibrated loose and
fell out, which would be the only possible explanation for it falling out unless
the threads on it are bad, and you'd need the plug to see that.
Question: 2005 Kia Rio 4 cyl
Front Wheel Drive Automatic 49459 miles After stopping at a stop light when I
release the brake the brakes disengage with a soft clunk/thump noise. What could
the noise be. I just had my brakes checked and was told that nothing was wrong
with my brakes because of a squeal that occurs periodically.
Answer: Clunks up front
usually mean either a weak motor or tranny mount, or a worn inboard tripod joint
on the cv axle...have that 10 100,000 mile warranty? Get these checked, still
covered...
Question: 2004 Kia Rio 4 cyl
Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 72000 miles While stopped in traffic, my
vehicle died. Prior to that there was no indicator lights to advise of any
problems. I had my vehicle towed to a dealership. They replaced the timing belt,
tensioner, drive belt and 2 oil seals. Now I am using twice as much gas and when
driving at 70 mph, my rpm was at 2 and now it 3 and when I am accelerating
instead of being at 3, it is running at 4 sometimes 5. The car dealership states
that my car is 100% fine, the issues is in my head, and there is no issue. Can
you please advise what could be wrong?
Answer: Take the car to the
dealer, get them in the car with you and go for a drive, show them your concerns
first hand, if you feel they are not being helpful, go to the manufacture and
complain like hell then they start to listen.
