Isuzu Rodeo Car Repair Questions and Answers

Question: 2000 Isuzu Rodeo Question 6
cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 101480 miles while driving the check engine light
come on, what would cause that to happen? Answer:
Usually it mean you need a o2 sensor ,but it could also
mean a number of other things . If I were you I would go to a local auto parts
store and have them check the codes (For Free) on the vehicle and they should be
able to tell you exactly what it is .
Question: 1999 Isuzu Rodeo Question 6
cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic I have been told that lots of time when the belt
breaks on this rodeo that sometime it will knock or break the crank sensor.Could
anyone tell me where this sensor is???
Answer: Hi there , CPI as per pic.
Question: 1997 Isuzu Rodeo Question 4
cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 200000 miles Yes recently my car started bogging down
while accelerating. When I was driving to work it would take forever to
accelerate up to 50 miles an hour, and will not go over 50 miles an hour no
matter how hard i press the gas petal. Also the harder you press the gas petal
the louder the noise will get, and seems like engine is working too hard. I just
changed the spark plugs and distributor cap, that didnt help. Next plan of
attack is fuel pump. But i dont want to spend the money on that if thats not the
problem. Any suggestions?
Answer: First thing you should check is you
catalytic convertor, I suggest taking it to a respectable muffler shop.
Question: 2000 Isuzu Rodeo Question 6
cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 120,000 miles, how to change transmission fluid
in 2000 Rodeo?
Answer: If no drain plug on pan,
the Transmission pan will have to be removed , replace the filter and the pan
gasket. If the Trans requires a full service (you cant drain all the old oil
just by taking of the pan) See your Trans specialist.
Question: 1992 Isuzu Rodeo Question 6 cyl Four
Wheel Drive Automatic 165000 miles, I needed to know what it should cost ( I am
in NC) to have the valve cover gaskets replaced. They charged my "English as a
second language- Japanese Wife" 252.48 to replace both side... so the bombs
seemed to be dropping on me from North Carolina...is the price fair and if
not...what should I do. Thank you for your time.
HM2 (FMF) Chris Hansen, US Navy Corpsman
Answer: The valve cover gaskets will cost about
30-40 bucks for the pair and the job will last about 1 hour to an hour and half
minutes. I would say for the whole job it would be no more then 200 bucks.
Question: 2005 Izusu Rodeo
Question 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 80000 miles I was recently in a front
end collision (minor fender bender) and following the repair, the fuse
controlling the turning signals and reverse lights blows whenever I turn the car
on. If I have the car in neutral it's ok, everything works fine. As soon as I
put it in park, drive, or reverse, the fuse blows. After the accident and before
the repair, everything was fully functional. The mechanic says it's not from
anything he touched and I know he didn't work on the transmission at all. He
only had to do some body work and replace the headlight unit on the front
driver's side. Anybody have any ideas?
Answer: Sounds like the wiring to the turn
signal is where I would first start looking. I would remove the light assembly
he installed and look closely at the wiring to make sure nothing got pinched.
Question: 1995 Izusu Rodeo Question 6 cyl Two
Wheel Drive Automatic 210,000 miles, No matter what I am doing the oil pressure
never is above 30 and when the truck is idling it is almost at 0 what could this
be from?
Answer: These car gauges are often very
inaccurate. Get a test done with a master gauge, this will give a true
indication as to the engine oil pressure. if ok, then start fault finding the
electrics of the sender system.
Question: 1991 Izusu Rodeo Question 6 cyl Two
Wheel Drive Manual 147000 miles When I turn on my right turn signal, 90% of the
time all I get is a buzzing noise coming from somewhere inside the steering
column/fuse box area. The blinkers do not turn on. I checked the bulbs, they are
fine. I checked the fuse, it also is fine. The left turn signal works. So do the
hazard lights. What do you recommend?Answer:
Check the flasher relay at left side of dash above the kick panel.
Question: 1999 Izusu Rodeo Question 6 cyl Four
Wheel Drive Automatic 94782 miles. My check engine light has been coming on-will
stay on for a day or two or three at the most and then go off for a while. This
started in December, happened once-happened again in February. This month it has
been on more than off so I finally went to have the codes checked. The Tech
pulled code: P0 0401 EGR Flow insufficient Further diagnostics are needed.
(OUCH!!!) Any suggestions before I open Pandora's box and my bank account? Where
should I start? Like many people, I am paycheck to paycheck and will need to
budget for any major expenses. I am not mechanically inclined, but do know
several people who are. I have a couple of road trips planned soon, 700-1000
miles each. Other than fuel economy am I going to hurt anything by not having
this fixed right away?
Answer: Start by checking the EGR could be all
clogged-up with carbon and inspect its passages or might not be coming On when
needed.
Question: 1994 Izusu Rodeo Question 6
cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 130000 miles I have a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo that makes
a loud squeaking sound when I start it. I just had the engine rebuilt and the
mechanic told me that it needed a new fan belt bracket. I checked with the local
junkyards and they didn't exactly know what I was talking about. Is fan belt
bracket the correct term? And also if I need a new bracket would I also need a
new pulley?
Answer: You best go back to the
mechanic that did the original job and get him to point out exactly what is
required. pulleys normally don't give any problems.
Question: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo Question 6 cyl Two
Wheel Drive Automatic 113,000 miles. just had my power steering pump replaced,
now my idle is between 1600-1900 rpm. any thoughts?
Answer: Too fast an idle speed. If an engine
without computerized idle speed control is idling too fast and refuses to come
down to a normal idle speed despite your best efforts to back off the carburetor
idle speed screw or air bypass adjustment screw (fuel injection), air is getting
past the throttle somewhere. Common leak paths include the carburetor and
throttle body gaskets, carburetor insulator spacers, intake manifold gaskets,
and of course, any of the engine's vacuum fittings, hoses and accessories. It is
even possible that leaky O-rings around the fuel injectors are allowing air to
leak past the seals. Another overlooked item can be a worn throttle shaft and a
defective idle speed speed control valve/motor stuck in the extended (high idle
speed) position.
Question: 1998 Isuzu Rodeo Question 6 cyl Four
