Infinity I30 Car Repair Questions and Answers

Question:    1996 Infinity I30 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 133,00 miles you can smell gas fumes inside cabin of car when AC or heat is on. The smell is so bad that your eyes tear. There are no visible leaks and I would like to bring it into the mechanic but would like a heads up on what might be wrong. Thanks for your help

Answer:    fuel injector is leaking is my opinion. its the most common problem I've seen with this car.



Question:    1997 Infiniti I30 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 120,00 miles How do I change the fuel pump myself?

Answer:    Remove the lower portion of the rear seat and there is an inspection cover to give access to the tank unit. Most cars the fuel tank has to be taken out of the car. Before you remove the fuel lines, release the pressure at the Schrader valve (like on a tire) on the fuel rail. I strongly suggest you use an OEM (Nissan) pump


Question:    1995 Infiniti I30 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 20,000 miles. After stating my car it stays on for a few seconds an then the engine will die down unless I leave my foot on the gas....what could be the issues..?

Answer:    Your idle air control valve has probably failed. there is coolant that runs through it, and over time coolant leaks into valve causing it to seize shut.


Question:    1996 Infiniti I30 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 162,000 miles. Hi! Where is the location of the EGR Valve located? Also, how do I remove and replace the EGR Valve?

Answer:    It is mounted on the intake manifold, to remove it you just unbolt it and unhook the vacuum line. do a part search for egr valve for your vehicle to find yourself a picture to locate it easier.



Question:    1998 Infiniti I30 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 141,500 miles The MIL Light is on and the DTC code is P1335 CKP Sensor (ref). Which sensor is this? Where is it located? and how do you replace it?
I am also starting to have problems starting the car.

Answer:    CKP= Crankshaft position sensor, if it's not sending a signal to the PCM, you will have a hard time! It's mounted down by the crank pulley, on the block...
