Question: 2004 Hyundai Accent
4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 77,986 miles Just had oil changed, was told
right rear strut has a slight leak, do I need to have both rear struts changed
or just the one leaking ?
Answer: You are at the
mileage that you'll want to change both... they are in the same general
condition anyway...
Question: 2000 Hyundai Accent
4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 129225 miles My temp gauge slowly goes hot but I
noticed that when I turn on the heater fan on high it goes down to normal
Answer:
Get the thermostat and coolant level checked out.
Question: 2000 Hyundai Accent
4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 121,000 miles when the car is filled above half a
tank it has a rough idle it occasionally stalls but is ok when under half tank.
I removed the spark plugs and it appears as if its running rich. any help you
can give would be appreciated.
Answer: Have the fuel
evaporative system checked-from charcoal canister / purging solenoid all the way
to the fuel tank if okay-get the fuel pressure check.
Question: 2001 Hyundai Accent
4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 94000 miles. Drove the car to work fine this
morning , although I have been having trouble starting it. It sounds like it
wants to start but wont fire , what might cause this to happen.
Answer: Get a carb cleaner
and spray into the carb or the throttle body on an EFI. Did it start and die? If
not disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper
crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel
problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump and listen to the
injector/s are they pulsing. Fuel pump and Injector/s checks out-start checking
the ignition system-power to coil, coil/s itself, distributor pick-up, control
module, Cam and Crankshaft sensors. If both fuel and spark is present-check the
valve and ignition timing, this will lead you to problems with compression and
valve opening and closing at the wrong time
Question: 2000 Hyundai Accent

Hyundai Accent Repair Questions
Question: Unsolved Mystery,
2000 Hyundai Accent, 1.5 SOHC front wheel drive. I have been trying,
unsuccessfully for 2 years to get this little car running, and with the price of
gasoline now, it would be a great Blessing to me, being on Social Security. In
the beginning the car started to lose power, and steadily got worse over a
period of 2 weeks until it totally failed, at this point my brother gave me the
car, not wanting to fool with it himself. When we first began troubleshooting
it, the only thing we could find was NO SPARK at any cylinder. I replaced the
computer with no change in the problem, then someone on this forum said, "it
must be the Crank Position Sensor"
so I changed that with absolutely NO change in the problem. I wrote back in, my
results, and it was suggested that maybe the O-Ring from the old CKP sensor was
still on the block creating a spacing problem but that is not it because I have
the old CKP sensor right here on my desk, WITH it's O-Ring intact. I don't
remember whom gave me the specs. on the voltage going INTO the coil but I DO
know it was correct, However, there is obviously no voltage coming out of the
coils and that is why I was pondering BOTH coils going out at once, and someone
said that was VERY unlikely. They DID say that maybe the Crank Position Sensor
may not be getting grounded to the computer or ECU. How can I determine this?
Can I find out where on the ECU it DOES ground then check continuity from that
pin to the CKP sensor,,, this is really bugging me, I know this is a good little
car that has ONLY highway miles that My brother commuted 100 miles round trip
every day for work. It would certainly be a GREAT Blessing to get this Hyundai
on the road.
Answer: Try this for the CPS
With the key on and the sensor unplugged, check the voltage between the pink and
black wires in the harness end of the connector. You should have battery
voltage. If not, you'll need to check the power (pink) and ground (black)
circuits. If that's okay, reconnect the sensor and check the yellow wire for
signal while cranking. If you have a scope, this should be a 12V square wave. If
not, check with an AC voltmeter. The voltage reading should be about 8.5V. Also
check for frequency. You should get one when cranking the engine.
Also, the following are problems that can occur with
this repair:
1. Plate between crankshaft sprockets is damaged or
installed backward.
2. Crankshaft sensor is installed backward. (The plate should run between the
two halves of the crank sensor).
3. Sensor wiring is not routed exactly as originally and is grounding on the
engine or has rubbed through.
4. Camshaft timing not proper.
Question: 1999 Hyundai Engine
Size unknown Two Wheel Drive Manual 115000 miles I feared that the radiator fan
is not working I checked the fuse it seems ok can you plz let me know Where is
the thermostat located
Answer: Test the connector at
the fan with a voltmeter, when engine gets to 195-200 range the fan should kick
on, see if the voltmeter shows voltage at that point, then run two wires from
the battery to the fan, hook them up to it and see if the fan runs. If it does
not, replace the fan motor...if it does check the relay in the panel under the
hood, behind the battery. Also check the engine coolant temp sensor, it may be
inaccurate.
Question: 1998 Hyundai Accent
4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 156,740 miles where is the fuel pump relay
located
Answer: The relay is located
on the left side of the steering wheel behind the diagnostic connector there is
also a pocket below the connector, take the pocket out of the dash, the relay
will be the middle one top row.
Question: 1998 Hyundai Accent
Two Wheel Drive Automatic 89,000 miles when I am driving my car it will shift
normally through all 4 gears but suddenly when I come to a stop or slow down and
start driving, it will only shift in second and third gear, but if I stop and
turn off the engine and restart it, it will shift normally through all 4 gears
again. this erratic shifting happens often please help
Answer: When was the last
transmission service-fluid/filter? Get the throttle position and vehicle speed
sensor checked-these components input signals to the computer indicating the
throttle and governor pressure to provide proper shifting-up/down shift. Don't
forget the 10 year 100,000 mile warrantee...if not too late go to Hyundai
service, if there are any codes, get them read..

Question: 2002 Hyundai Accent
4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 48.000 miles I have a 2002 Hyundai accent, the
problem is the fuse for the front wipers keeps on blowing I have replaced the
motor and checked the wiring but all seems o.k. . can you please advise.
Answer: If the motor is new,
and you have inspected wiring , you best check the switch assembly for a short
to earth.
Question: 2000 Hyundai Accent
4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 85,000 miles My girlfriend has a 2000 Hyundai
Accent. it will run fine for a couple weeks but then will not crank. Good plugs,
battery, will turnover but wont start so good starter. Plug wires are new. My
dad is a pretty good mechanic and suspects that it is the fuel pump. Pump
doesn't
turn on when the ignition switch is in start position. Fuses are good for fuel
pump. Does this sound like a starter? Also, does this specific model have an
inertia switch, and if so, where is it? And, is there an access panel to get the
fuel pump out without dropping the fuel tank?
Answer: Try direct power to
the fuel pump-if it comes On-find the fuel pump relay and go from there. Could
also be the fuel pump relay control in the computer- The computer energizes the
relay.
Question: 2000 Hyundai 4 cyl
Front Wheel Drive Manual 150000 miles fluid wont drain from reservoir to the end
of the line when I try to bleed it, the reservoir is full even if i pump the
Answer: The bleed screw can
get blocked with dirt, remove and check for fluid flow, clean bleeder with very
fine probe.
Question: 2002 Hyundai 4 cyl
Front Wheel Drive Automatic 57000 miles the car was in the body shop after a
wreck front and rear damage . we got it back it ran fine for one night . then #1
cylinder started missing . I pulled plug it was wet with fuel I replaced it
with new one but didn't help. then check for spark it was bright blue, checked
compression it was 120 psi, on all 4 dry. changed fuel injector no different installed new plug wire same thing
during this whole time by the way check engine light is on and the local parts
place could only tell me #1 was missing which i already knew. I am thinking its
the ecm but its my daughters car and i don't want to cost her unneeded money.
any ideas!!!!!
Answer: I know this sounds
crazy and goes back to the days before fuel pumps on cars, but consider that the
fuel flow is not sufficient on the vehicle. There is gas but the pressure is
less than it needs and the climbing of the hill etc works against the problem
and solely depends on the pump to get the fuel to the injectors. I would start
with a fuel filter replacement. If that does not help, I would get a fuel
pressure check on the car. It could be a weak fuel pump.
