Ford F450 Truck Repair Questions and Answers

Question: 1998 Ford F-450  mileage: 140,000.  I have replaced the power steering pump on my F-450 diesel pickup. My power brakes work off the power steering pump. How do I "bleed" the power steering pump so my brakes work?

Answer: They should be self-bleeding. Work the brake pedal several times and turn the steering wheel several times. If this does not work, you may have a faulty pump.

Question:  2001 Ford F-450 mileage: 62,000.  My truck has an automatic climate control. A/C works great, but the heater only heats when the setting is eighty two degrees, if I lower it to let's say seventy six to seventy eight degrees it's cold air. The Dealer can't find anything, but I know this not a unique problem. Any ideas?  Thanks!

Answer: The temperature sensor for the climate control or the control module itself may be faulty.

Question:  2002 FORD f-450 Truck mileage: 77,000.  When I start my engine, cold only, I hear a squealing noise, like the serpentine belt.  The noise goes away after the engine warms up a little.  About a year ago, I replaced the belt with a Ford factory belt.  Help?

Answer: Try replacing the spring loaded belt tensioner.
