Dodge Vision Car Repair Questions and Answers

Question: 1993 Dodge Eagle Vision mileage: 100,000. After sitting overnight, the Eagle starts up fine and when shifted into Reverse won't go anywhere, it appears to be in neutral. Placing the car in drive sometimes allows the car to move along fine and then it will shift perfectly fine in reverse. This is an intermittent problem. The car was taken to the Eagle dealer who claimed to do a series of test on the transmission and said the "clutch packing" or "CP" (I am not sure) may not be correct as well as overdrive is "out of range" (I am not sure). The solution was to either overhaul the transmission or replace it. I have been driving it as is and within the last few weeks, it has been flawless. So the question is, repair, replace or merely service the transmission. At 100K, is this the time to trade the car in? Other than this, it runs fine.
Answer: Your transmission may be ready for service. Replacing the filter and transmission fluid may correct the problem.
Question: 1994 Dodge Eagle Vision mileage: 127,354. I am finally starting to have problems with my car. I now have an external leak on one fuel injector. Although it's a small one I must repair it immediately. My question is: Is this a fix I can do myself with a good selection of tools and a decent mechanical background, or would it require a professional shop to do the fix? Your opinion would be appreciated.
Answer: Although the repair is relatively easy, done incorrectly, it can be disastrous.
Question: I have 1993 Dodge Eagle Vision 57,200 miles. It started shaking while being driven, with the worst shaking at about 35 mph. I had the tires rotated and balanced, hoping that would solve the problem. It did not. The steering wheel shakes back and forth (not a great deal, nor violently) as well, and the car shakes, almost a pulsating feel. I asked the shop to rebalance the tires, and they did, which didn't help. I took it to another place, where they checked for various things, one of which was a bent rim(s), what they checked turned out fine. They also rebalanced the tires. I decided to take it back to the store where I bought the tires. They rebalanced the tires as well; I'm not sure what else they checked for. I took it back to them again, and they could not figure it out either (but they did rebalance again!). My car has the best-balanced tires in Alaska. However, I'm wondering if maybe I just have bad tires? I don't know what else it could be. Any suggestions?
Answer: After reading your question, it is safe to assume your tire balance is not the problem. Here are some possible causes: 1. Worn tie rod ends, 2. Steering rack rubber mounts, 3. Front axle "C-V" joints for wear, 4. Have suspension checked for wear. A wheel alignment service center should be able to do the checks for you.
