Dodge Dynasty Repair Questions
Question: 1993 Dodge Dynasty. Starts sometimes and sometimes it won't. Talked to others with the same or similar problem. Was told it is ECM. But, he still had the problem of it not starting a couple of weeks later. Then someone told him about a safety switch in the ignition that he had replaced and the problem was solved. My question is, does the 90 dynasty have this computer type safety switch in the ignition system to protect the car parts from burning up? And, have you ever come across this problem before with other Dynasty's. Thank you I am trying to find a direction to go.
Answer: We do not know of any safety switch that you mentioned in your question. Two things to check would be the fuel pump and the crank angle sensor.
Question: 1992 Dodge Dynasty Sirs, I am looking for some one that may have a clue where the fuse box numbers and what they are for. I have a blown fuse that control my electric locks and my dash lights and also my lighter and radio. Other then pulling out all the fuses one by one It would be easier the know what fuses are what.
Answer: Rather than pull out each fuse, while the key is on, use a test light to test both sides of each fuse. This is the most reliable method because it tests under load.
Question: 1993 Dodge Dynasty mileage: 96,000. When my wife removed the key from the ignition switch she said it was hot and the steering column was hot. I can't find anything in my over the counter manuals which give me a hint as to where to begin. Incidentally, the oil pressure gauge reads low. The car sat off and on for much of its life and is now being driven regularly.
Answer: The ignition switch may have corrosion on the contacts causing resistance, which in turn will cause the switch to get hot. It is time to replace it with a new one.
Question: 1992 Dodge Dynasty mileage: 120,000 I can receive AM radio, and play tapes, but I can't get FM at all. It’s just snow is my stereo shot? Speakers work great!
Answer: You have a short in your FM antenna wire or it is disconnected.
Question: 1992 Dodge Dynasty mileage: 130,000. My car is leaking antifreeze everywhere and my heat is not working right. I am broke so do you think this is serious. What are some of the things I can do to stave off this problem until I have the funds to fix it? Is it safe to drive? It seems to be running okay.
Answer: Driving your car without water is very serious. If your car is leaking antifreeze, try to locate the source of the leak and repair it (replace leaking radiator or upper or lower hose, etc). If the cooling system is full, the heater should work and it may be okay to drive, however, if the coolant gets low and overheats the engine, severe and costly damage will result.
