Question: 1998 Daewoo Lanos 4
cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 50,000 miles. Daewoo Lanos 1.6 sx cuts out when
taken over 4000 rpm when cold and then will not start for 2 or 3 minutes. When
it has been re-started it runs like a bag of nails for about 5 minutes and has
no power. Seems to me that the engine is flooded and maybe the choke is staying
on longer than it should. Is there any thing I could do to stop this. Thanks

Answer: Is the check engine
light on? if it is have it scanned at AutoZone (they do it free) and get back
with the codes. Does it just cut off or die off like it is running out of fuel?
Question (follow up): No
there are no engine lights that appear on the dash. it seems to run out of fuel
or flood the engine. This only happens when it cold. As soon as it up to temp it
runs fine. Thanks Dave
Answer: (follow up): So we
need to know what is missing when it is dead, spark, fuel or injector pulse

Manual 112,000 miles hi, I bought a Daewoo lanos before xmas. it will start by
jump or bump but not with a key. I have had a new starter motor put in. my guy
thinks it should have an immobilizer key to make it start. the guy who I bought
off said it does not and that it is the ignition. I don't mind spending money if
I know what the problem is. do you have ant idea before I go to a proper garage
Answer: First check fuse #30
in the under hood fuse block, 30 amp. If it is good, go to switch mounted on
clutch pedal, up under the dash a little. 2 wires, both red, should have power
to one of them with key in crank position, then power to the other when the
clutch is applied, if none on both sides the clutch switch is bad, if ok then
there is something wrong with the wire to the starter or a bad starter

Answer: The
firing order is 1342 rotation dunno-but if you remove the distributor
cap and crank engine over look at the direction the rotor is turning and follow
it.
