Chrysler Concorde Car Repair Questions and Answers

Question: 1994 Chrysler Concord mileage: 64,000. When you come to a stop, there is a lag before you can continue. It feels like the transmission has to "catch up" with the rest of the car. If you give it gas before it catches up, the car goes into gear with a thud. You can't roll through a stop without coming to a complete stop and wait for the transmission to "catch up".
Answer: Your transmission may be ready for service. Replacing the filter and fluid may correct the problem. If after servicing your transmission and driving your car for a week or two you continue to have problems, you may need a transmission overhaul.
Question: 1996 Chrysler Concorde mileage: 70,000. For the past year and a half
the car has intermittently failed to start for a dozen or more attemps. These incidents occur about three to six months apart. When ignition key is turned lights, horn, radio and warning bells operate but when key is turned further to start position, nothing happens including no clicking sound. On one occasion, changing to the valet car resulted in car starting with no more trouble for several months. On other occasion, changing keys did not help. The car has an after-market alarm system but it has been deactivated during the last two no-start incidents.
Answer: Here are some things to check. Load test the battery. Check that the battery cable connections are clean. Check for 12 volts to starter solenoid with the key in the start position. These things should be checked first then the ignition switch, neutral safety switch, starter and starter solenoid. One of these may be faulty.
Question: 2004 Chrysler Concorde mileage: 11,000. At the end of a 400-mile trip, when I got into stop and go traffic, I noticed the smell of "rotten eggs" coming up from the car. When I got home, I opened the hood and noticed the car battery was steaming and leaking fluid from around the fill caps. The battery was the original, so I replaced it. Was this caused by battery age or should I be checking something else, like alternator or regulator?
Answer: Have charging system checked for proper output. Too high a voltage will overcharge the battery. You need to replaced the alternator, that should solve the problem.
