Question: I just bought a 2005 srx I
can't get the navigation to work do you know if it has anything to do with the
onstar, it doesn't work because it has to be updated to digital from analog.Answer:
This is something the dealer is going
to have to address.

Cadillac
SRX - STS V8 180,00 miles Hi. I am trying to program one
keyless entry fob..this is the directions I am follwing....With the ignition in
the "RUN" position (engine does not necessarily need to be running, but it will
work either way). Press OFF and WARMER (or the OFF and PASSENGER WARMER buttons)
on climate control panel simultaneously. Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) will
light all telltales, then go blank. System is now in DIAGNOSTIC MODE. After
diagnostic mode cycles through and stops, press FAN DOWN button until "RFA?" is
displayed, then press FAN UP. If "RFA DATA?" is displayed, press FAN DOWN. If "RFA
OVERRIDE?" is displayed press FAN UP button. If "RFA S00 NO OVERRIDE" is
displayed, press FAN DOWN. If "RFA S01 PROGRAM FOB #1" is displayed, press FAN
UP button. IPC will show "0" on right side of Drivers Information Center (DIC)
display. Press WARMER button on the climate control unit until "99" is
displayed. Press and hold TRUNK button on the transmitter. While holding TRUNK
button, press LOCK button and hold both buttons for a total of 3 seconds. Locks
will cycle when programming is complete. If transmitter is not programmed within
30 seconds after entering "99" on the display, system will default and you must
begin at step #2 again. To program second transmitter, press FAN DOWN button
until "RF S02 PROGRAM FOB #2" is displayed, then press FAN UP. Repeat step #4.
To exit system, press AUTO, MODE UP, MODE DOWN, or RESET button. After it goes
through the diagnostic cycle it will stay constant on PCM? No matter how long I
hold the fan down button it won't go to the next step...since I am new at this I
had to try it several times and I did get it to where I have to get it to the
"99" but hit the wrong button and had to start over...now I can't seem to get
past the PCM? part....what do I do? And I have only one fob and it is fob #2,
does that make a difference and if so how do I program just the 2nd fob? My car
is a STS. Thankyou in advance P.S. I don't have a warmer button, I have a temp
knob for the driver side of the climate control and a up/dwn for the pasenger
...does that make a difference...and do I turn the knob until the "99" shows or
use the passenger temp thing?
Answer: Push down on the mode button or go to
the dealer and have it programmed through the tech 2.
Question: 1996 Cadillac Seville V8
Front Wheel Drive Automatic 112,580 miles. I have an overheating problem. One
mechanic says that the engine is ruined, but it has extremely high pressure
building up in the coolant system. is the engine ruined or do I have to replace
head gaskets?
Answer: if you have no
leaks and the fans work right up front, the problem lies at the head gasket, the
head bolt threads strip out of the block due to overheating. this is quite
fixable done it plenty of times. if you fix it have them helicoil them all
whether there bad or not, in my 5 years at caddie never seen a head gasket prob
it was always the head bolts make sure the water pump is ok along with the belt
its on the front head at the right end looking at the motor or drivers side,
remove the black bracket to ck it
Question: 1994 Cadillac Seville can a
1993 Cadillac Seville driver side mirror fit on a 1994 Cadillac Seville?
Answer: If the body styles are
the same, probably! Call a local junkyard and ask, they have the crossover books
and can tell you what years will work!
Question: My 2000 STS has the FE3 "road sensing"
suspension with 108000 mi. Replacement Struts are $700 each - is there a lower
cost replacement or can the SLS non adjustable struts be installed & if so, do
any electronic components need to be removed or deactivated? The car is pristine
& I have owned it since new and really want to go to 200,000 miles - but the
cost to rebuild the suspension with original equipment replacement parts is
prohibitive. What are my best alternatives?
Answer: I have never installed non adjustable
struts in place of the sensing struts. try having the cores rebuilt it may save
you some money, or try a junk yard. I wouldn't mess around with installing the
non adjustable as you will probably run into more problems down the road.
Question: 1997 Cadillac
Seville Front Wheel Drive Automatic 137896 miles, I need new shocks, they are
very expensive since they are electronic. is it possible to put regular shocks
on or do they have to be electronic?
Answer: The
replacements are not electronic anymore, but you will have to have a relay put
in your Ride Module or the light will come on so some one is pulling your leg
rear shocks are air shocks, they come in a pair about 200 bucks at the dealer.
Question: 1996 Cadillac Seville V8 Four Wheel
Drive Automatic 126000 miles the information center will go blank
occasionally.Drive a few miles and it comes back on.Seems to do it more under
high humidity??speedo stops during these periods. Thanks for any help
Answer: Try scanning your
codes, off and warmer on your heater controls at the same time, with your key in
the on position, and see if we have any look in your information center for them

There isn't one.

Drive Automatic 164,000 miles. what tool is needed to remove water pump from
housing? Been to Autozone and they have no idea (go figure).
Answer: Its called a water
pump remover and installer tool, its a big socket like thing I have told a few
people about getting it at Autozone and they responded with they had it and
thanks a lot, try having them look up the part ( water pump ) and cross
referencing it to the tool

2001 Cadillac Seville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic
47,000 miles I have a 2001 Seville STS with factory HID headlamps. Over the
weekend, it blew a fuse for the drivers side HID lamp. I replace the fuse and
the HID lamp lit up for about 3 seconds and then popped the fuse again. I pulled
the lamp assembly out and looked at the wiring to see if I could find a pinched
wire or maybe a wire that had rubbed thru its insulation and was arcing to
ground but found nothing. I put it all back together and tried a new fuse, it
lit up and lasted about 8 seconds and then popped the fuse again. Any ideas on
how to diagnose the HID circuitry? These parts are very expensive to just try
and replace ballasts, ignitor, etc......Please help if you can.
Answer: Those are
the blue lights right? the electrical booster for that headlight is bad, I
believe there is one for each headlight assembly, its a rectangle box about 6-8
inches long and 2-3inches wide
Question: 1996 Cadillac Seville V8 Two Wheel
Drive Automatic 120,000 miles, The A/C system won't hold a charge and I need to
check the evaporator to see if it's leaking. How do I get it out or get at it?
Also, does anyone sell the cowl that covers the unit and blower motor, etc? The
old one is falling apart.
Answer: That's how you get
it out, cut the cowling, then repair it going back together, blower motor is in
the firewall in the middle. Check you AC with a Freon leak detector
Question: 1988 Cadillac Seville V8 Front Wheel
Drive Automatic 199,00 miles I had a shortage in the ignition wiring fixed a
year ago by a drive way Mechanic he just cut the short out a replaced it with a
new small wire. but the car will start up at first but if I go into the store an
come out an try to start it won't make a sound it will not start, then after
sitting for an hour or so it will start like a new car. I think my security
system is acting up what can I do????????Answer: Do
you get a message, start in 3 minutes? replace the ign switch and the dealer
will have to do a theft relearn
