Question: 1997 Cadillac Concours V8
Front Wheel Drive Automatic 151000 miles. I have a 1997 Cadillac Deville Concours vin 9 and it need s a head
gasket but I have a 2001 Cadillac Deville
Northstar engine vin y and I wanted to know if it will fit. Some people say It
will fit and some say it won't, But I called the people at Fitzgerald and they say
it will fit I may just need to take a few parts off the old engine and it will
work, if you now anything about this please email me back. Thanks, I want to get
this started this weekend. Also, if you have any pictures of each engine please
send them too.
Answer: Yes it
will fit, you have to exchange parts from the old to the new, keep your old
intake, the block and heads should be the same, valve covers no, use old ones.
The block and heads are all that you will use.

popped. There is no diagram under the hood. How do I route this, does anyone
have a diagram?
Answer: Hope this
helps.

Question:
My husband's Cadillac
Concours runs great until it warms up,
(approx. 10 minutes drive time) then it fails to shift beyond
3rd gear. The fluid level is fine and no burning odor. This
happened on the highway without any prior warning. I managed to
get it home by stopping for breaks to let it cool back down so I
could go another 10 minutes. It was a slow ride home! The
message readout didn't indicate any problems and when I start
the car it says everything is OK. The local transmission shop
said the problem is probably internal and quite costly. What
does this mean? I'd appreciate another opinion.
Answer:
Could be an internal problem in the transmission. Try a different transmission shop and
have then scan the PCM or run through the on-board diagnostics. The PCM
should have stored some kind of code if it wont shift.
