Buick La Crosse Car Repair Questions and Answers

MORE: Buick La Crosse Repair Questions

Question: 2005 Buick La Crosse Mileage: 87,000 miles My car is under powered when I take off. Any ideas?  I'm trying fuel injector cleaner right now, but with no results. Once the car is up to speed it drives fine.

Answer: It could be the fuel filter, but I would have a fuel pressure test done, even if you do replace the fuel filter, because it could also be the fuel pump.

Question: 2000 Buick La Crosse 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 69,001 miles my engine misses real bad when it's cold, then now and then at road speeds.

Answer: is check engine light on? if so have it scanned for codes as a 1st step check for tune up

Question: I have a 1994 Buick La Crosse and it has tested my every last nerve. About 7 months ago I had to replace the crankshaft pulley, when I did that I replaced the crankshaft position sensor. 3 days later the car mysteriously died on me and then restarted right away then died again and wouldn't start. I was baffled as to why it did this, I then went to try and fix the car 2 days later and it started right up, it didn't die on me until 3 weeks ago. This time it did the same thing, it died then restarted and died again, a couple days later the car started up and ran just fine until I got home. Ever since I got it home it only runs for about 5 minutes at most then just shuts off. When it runs, it runs smooth and fine with no check engine light. I know it's getting fuel, it won't run because it's not getting any spark. I have tested all of the prongs that come out of the ignition module to make sure that they are getting power and they all are. I have replaced the ignition module, the ECM, ignition packs, and the camshaft senor. The security light is not staying on so I know it's not the security system deactivating the ignition. Somebody help before I beat this car with a hammer. Thanks, Tony

Answer: As good as that might feel......... You might have a bad crank sensor, or damaged wiring at it. recheck that carefully and see if it is getting trigger from it.

Question: I have an 05 La Crosse with 33,500 miles 3800 series engine, Can someone please tell me where the fuel filter is located so that I can replace it Thanks.

Answer: The La Crosse does not have a serviceable fuel filter. It has a strainer that is located in the tank but there is no maintenance required for the fuel system.

Question: I have a 2005 Buick La Crosse with 32,000mi. with the 3.8l v6. Over that last few weeks, My daytime running lights have been shutting off while I'm driving and wont turn back on and while I was driving to work this morning in the dark, about 10 min into driving they shut off. I tried to turn them back on manually by switching my lights from auto to on but they won't turn back on, about 20 min later when I got to work they decided to turn back on. Every time this happens no matter what I do I cant get them to turn back on and I'm forced to use my high beams which don't seem to be affected at all by this. I'm wondering if this is a computer problem. I don't think its a fuse because they go on and off and I checked the fuses and their all fine.

Answer: I was looking at the schematics and it looks like the Body Control Module is what pulls the circuit to ground. There is a headlamp module (relay) in the under hood fuse box it only controls the low beam lights. It is relay #35 You could replace that and see if that takes care of your problem. If that does not do it then You would need to lean towards the BCM or a wiring issue...Is the car ot of warranty??
