MORE: Audi A3 Repair Questions

Question: 2004 Audi A3 Engine Size unknown Wheel Drive Type unknown Manual 22,000 miles. My car makes a rumbling noise when driving , also feels slower than usual and seems to be using petrol much quicker than usual. could it be an exhaust problem?

Answer: Have the exhaust system checked for excessive backpressure due to catalytic converter/muffler failure/leakage.

Question: The fan on my Audi A3 1.6 04 plate radiator wont stop running (small fan not the large one). I've had to disconnect the battery when I'm home as I can't find the fuse relating to the fan (its not where it says it is the book), I've been told that it might be the control switch that needs to be replaced?

Answer:    I would look first at the relay for the fan. It may have welded itself together. I would pull the relay out and see if you have another relay that is identical to that one and swap it in and see if the fan starts working correctly. If it does then you just need to buy a new relay and install it.

Question:
I recently repaired a damaged Audi A3 TDI quattro s-line (170) - front OS was damaged along with the fuse box - all body work is done and we had an electrician replaced fuse box and cabling. The car does have power ie windows, stereo. The remote key will lock and unlock the vehicle and we can get the engine to turn over no problem. But it will not start from the key, the dash isn't lighting up either? Any Audi experts out there know what the problem might be? Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer: The best way to attack the problem is to purchase a wiring diagram and trace the wiring to see were the short circuit is located. It sounds like the ignition switch is not getting power on one of the polls on the ignition switch itself.
