Acura RSX Repair Questions and Answers
Question:
2006
Acura
RSX 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual
16,000 miles. I recently installed a after-market cat-back exhaust system for my
car. My problem is the the back pipe piece that bends over the axle bangs up
against the bed of the
car when the car idles or drives
slow. its very loud and annoying. do they sell anything that would sit between
the bed of the car and the pipe to act as a cushion so they don't touch?
Answer: I would visit an
exhaust shop and see if they can modify or make better rear mounting brackets to
support the pipe so there is not as much movement.
Question: 1997
Acura
RSX 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual
122,000 miles. my right headlight looks cloudy --the inside part . I don't know
if a seal broke or not. I want to pull out the headlight and clean or replace
with a better light. Do I have to take the front bumper off to pull the
headlight out?
Answer: Instead of doing that try going to NTB,
they do a treatment on the lens, and claim it removes an old laminate and
applies a new one, making the lens look new again, cost is 100.00, if it works,
that's less than half the cost of one new assembly...
Question: 2002
Acura
RSX 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual
70,000 miles. It seems that the clutch is going out of the car. Will barely move
at this point. Looking to replace the clutch and was wondering if I should stick
with the Acura clutch or go with other maker.
Answer: Keep
with the genuine clutch assembly, and don't forget to have the fly wheel
machined as well.
Question: My
car is a 2003 Acura RSX Type S,
completely stock version // No after market Modifications //
standard
transmission // 4 cylinder engine//
71,000 miles.
I was told by Honda after taking it in for hearing a deep knock noise when I
shift gears that my short block engine will have to be replaced for $5,687.53
due to Rod Bearing // Balance Shaft Noise. Can anyone please tell me if this is
needed? Is there something I can do to salvage the engine or do I absolutely
have to purchase a new engine? Thank You for any assistance that is given.
Answer: Sounds like main bearings it
can be done underneath-just get the crank kit that's bearings/crank.
Question: I have a 2006 RSX that has
less than 5000 miles. Today the check engine light came on. I haven't got fuel
for a week and a half.. I checked the gas cap and it seemed like it was on
properly. The
car is running great. I'm going to
the dealer tomorrow to get it checked out. Any ideas on what may be wrong and
will it hurt the vehicle to drive it that far with the light on?
Answer: No, you should be fine. Not
sure how the gas cap fits in here unless you know the code. Take it in, you
should not hurt the
car.
Question: 2002
Acura
RL 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 50,000 miles. location
and replacement of the pcv valve
Answer: Follow the lines from the
throttle body area to the valve covers.
Question: I have a 2002
Acura
RSX-S with 60,000 mi. This morning I
started up my car, drove out of my driveway and got to a stop sign not more than
20 yards from where i parked and my car died. I tried starting it back up but I
had to give it gas for it to get started. After that it wouldn't idle. The RPM's
would go back down to zero and my car would die. Unless I kept my foot on the
gas my car would constantly die every time I started up my car. My trans. light
turns on when I keep the car going and that is the only service light that
appears. Please Help!
Answer: Good likelihood there is a
fuel
problem. Start with a fuel filter
replacement and then if that does not solve the problem go to a fuel pressure
check.
Question: 2003
Acura
RSX 5 speed, 21,000 miles. My wife
was stuck in a traffic jam today (two hours) with a lot of stop and go. After a
time she noticed the
car struggled to engage starting in
first gear. The RPMS raced even though the clutch was engaged. She also noticed
an odor of something burning. Once free of the traffic jam the car seemed ok. I
drove it tonight and everything seems fine. Can a clutch over heat? I'm sure my
wife was riding the clutch too much. Why would it slip then and be fine now?
Thanks for your help.
Answer: Check to see if they left of
the door switch or if it is out of adjustment. BUT It sounds as though you are
having residual effects of the accident. The smartest thing to do is contact the
insurance company and report these problems. Many companies will stand behind
the slow to surface problems for a couple of months. The impact of the accident
can raise havoc with a number of auto parts not in direct contact with the
collision.
Question: I recently went over the
curb in my
Acura
RSX and damaged my Alignment, I
recently had it fixed but now every time I make a long right hand turn or jolt
my wheel to the right it does not straighten up by itself. I took it back to the
Alignment place, they told me it wasn't my alignment but a word for a component
I cant quite remember , I believe it started with a R - P ( two part word ) I'm
assuming it was the rack-and-pinion system and told me to take it to the
dealer. I was wondering how much
would it cost. He said by fixing the alignment I could have possibly aggravated
this problem.
Answer: I don't think by fixing but
by hitting this system you could have damaged it. And yes you very easily could
have. Give them a call and ask the price to replace the system and then get
someone else's price as well. Usually a pretty pricey event.
