Acura CL Repair Questions and Answers

Question: 2001 Acura CL 6 cyl Automatic 87,000 miles My abs, srs, and dsa lights are on. I just had the brake and rotors replaced. Any idea where to start?

Answer:   Find out if the battery got drained during the service, low battery voltage would cause the 3 systems to malfunction and set codes to illuminate the dash board.

Question: 2001 Acura CL 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 140,000 miles Hello, I am having some trouble to find an answer to my question online. I plan on to change my spark plugs, always have done it myself on my other cars. However, my Acura CL-S I have no problem changing the front three plugs but I don't know the process or what I have to remove to get to the back three plugs. Also I want to know what is the cheapest way, as far as electrical goes, to free up engine power.

Answer: Your vehicle I believe is like the Lumina style set up, the front motor mounts have to be removed and the motor then tilted forward. There is really no electrical way that is cheap to free up horsepower.

Question: 1999 Acura CL 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 12,800 miles. can I change the valve cover gaskets without taken the intake manifold off?

Answer: Yes you can. The head gasket requires the intake to come off. Be sure that when you replace the valve cover gasket that you replace the grommets on the plug holes as well.

Question: 1998 Acura CL  Front Wheel Drive Automatic 77,000 miles. What could be the reasons this light is on?

Answer: The ECU (engine control unit) has detected a fault in the parameters of the engine management system, The light is a visual warning that a fault code has been set. Have the code read and report back or have your mechanic investigate the problem.

Question: 97 Acura CL 2.2 120k miles. The code indicates catalyst system efficiency below threshold Bank (1) any idea on how to correct?

Answer: Replace the catalytic converter and based on the mileage the 2 o2 sensors as well. p0420/p0430 are 2 of the most solid codes out there. the only way I'd say it might be something else is if the car was newer and the miles very low.

Question: I have a 1999 Acura 2.3 CL that I need to replace the airbag module on. Where is it located?

Answer: behind /below the radio or behind ashtray in the center of the dash.

Question: I noticed that the clutch engagement on my car seems to be on the high side. Is this an indication that the clutch is worn and will soon need replacement. It still shifts fine and smooth. My car has high mileage, but the clutch was replaced about 35,000 miles ago my driving habits have not changed. It is a 97 Acura CL 2.2 with 197,000 miles.

Answer: Not really, but it might indicate a beginning failure in the hydraulics of the clutch master or slave. I would watch it closely. There is no adjustment of the clutch pedal.
