Your Comments About Bob and Ken:
On your Nissan Altima Q&A page there is an Addendum to a question in
which a user describes fixing an oily distributor by replacing a faulty seal and cleaning the distributor. My '93 Altima
(180,000 miles, 4cyl.) quit on me two days ago. I towed it to the dealer, who told me I
had oil in the distributor. He wanted $463 for a new distributor and $200 in labor.
After reading your Q&A I told the dealer I couldn't
afford his estimate and I towed the car off
his lot. Twenty minutes under the hood and a
new o-ring fixed the problem. Your site
saved me almost $700! Thank you very much! -
Damon It was very refreshing to
find a down to earth, upfront, extremely
knowledgeable, very well laid out and ( FREE
) website that catered to the shade tree
mechanic. You ( 2carpros ) are grand. Keep
up the true spirit of the Internet : )
Regards & Thanx - Michael
Thank you. You were much
more accurate to the solution than the other
on-line "Expert," who simply replied that
the transmission was bad and needed to be
replaced. Ultimately, I replaced the fuel
filter, drained the gas tank to about 1/2
and refilled with fresh gasoline, new plugs,
etc., and the problem is gone. I had one
local mechanic friend also target the
catalytic converter, especially after adding
something that directly affects emissions.
That would have been my next step -- not
replacing the transmission. I'll keep my eye
on the oxygen sensor too. Thank you. You
have helped. I'll recommend your service. -
Fred I took my car in and they
replaced the "speedometer sensor" on the
transmission. You were correct. Thanks
again. - Barry
No question - you gave us
the answer for which we have been searching
for years! It's the fuel pickup problem on
half a tank or less. THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
- Lorna
Your answer is correct.
There weren't any plugged return lines. I
replaced the pressure regulator and my
problem was solved. Thanks guys - Eric
Bob and Ken, Thank You very
much for your advice, a friend and I checked
the components you suggested only to find
out it was a broken seal in the distributor
that was causing oil to leak into the
distributor and smother the spark it needed.
It was really odd that this happened I've
never heard of this before. So,
we fixed it by removing the distributor,
cleaning it out thoroughly, and replacing
the leaky seal. Hope that you can add
this experience to your reference section of
your very helpful website. Again, I
thank you very much for your time and
consideration, much ALOHA from HAWAII.
Thank You " MAHALO" (means thank you) -
Keoki the happy car owner.
Thank you so much for your
reply.....it is right in line with others we

hi bob and ken, liked the
humor, thanks for the advice. Actually it's
my sister that is having a cow and boy is
she ever "sore" that she took the car to
those so called mechanics in the first
place. thanks again - Judy
Thanks for the advice it
should help to get my car running. It's my
first car to rebuild so it should be fun.
Thank you again and the time was no problem.
I expected that it would take a little while
seeing how so many people get on the same
sight. Thanks. - Grant
Hey Bob and Ken, Certainly
appreciate your answer. I can imagine the
amount of mail that you must receive. Thanks
again. - Dick
Regarding my 1999 Chevy
Blazer... I appreciate the response, no
matter what the delay. We had suspected the
fuel pump as well. I called my mobile
mechanic to come out and look at it, and
much to my surprise, or rather I felt very
stupid... But it's a new car for me and the
gauge was off, so I guess I am left to some
other alternate feeling about my ignorance,
I was out of gas! :) It has been running
fine (knock on wood) since the fix, a full
tank of gas. Thanks again - Amanda
Hey Guys, Thanks for the
great solution. You two certainly are pros.
- Charlie
Thanks for the help guys.

you guys in the future - rhalflife2 thanks

Thank-you for your help .
This is a great service . - GT27LC
Thanks for the reply,
finally located someone with a scanner, he
said all looked o.k. all that ended up being
wrong was one of the injectors wasn't making
good contact. on the smoke, by a coolant
leak? sounds logical, i do have to add water
ever so often, and we have had to replace
the intake gasket on a friends truck twice,
the last time we had to replace the intake,
so I'll check that, thanks again...J.P.
Thanks for the reply. while
waiting for your reply, I actually got the
car not to start at the mechanic's (never
been so happy not to have a car start!!)
they found out that it was something to do
with the fuel system but have not been able
to pin point the problem. very frustrating.
your idea that it might be the fuel pump is
very close. thanks again for your time. -
Elliott
Thanks for taking time to

Hey Bob and Ken, Thank-you

Thank you so much for
responding to my question re: pricing for
major tune-up on my Rodeo. I went ahead and
had the tune-up done and my cost was $832.00
(NC pricing). It seemed very expensive but I
felt better knowing that perhaps it wasn't
too far out of line. Thanks again for your
service. - Cindy
Thanks for the advice.
- Paul
Thanks, I plan on slitting
the hose from past experience with a Merkur
radiator. - Hal
Thank you so much for your
quick response. My grandfather retired
as a Ford mechanic many years ago and has
since left us for the big engine in the sky
(he left a little of the wrenching in our
blood). I do know that nothing beats a
certified mechanic but I like to tinker and
try to do what I can on my own. I
dropped a long block in my 98 Ford a few
months ago and that was a real experience
but worth it none the less (I'm still
working out a few of the minor kinks).
I'm glad I found your site KEEP UP THE GOOD
WORK AND AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH!! - Deborah
Thanks very much for the

advice. You guys are providing a great
service for people. - Frederick
Thanks Bob and Ken. I have
done this kind of work for years but it
never hurts to hear from someone else who
has done it or knows about your specific
application. I do it on my own vehicles and
can go years between ever doing the exact
some job on the exact make and model of
vehicle again. Many are similar, many are
not exact. Best regards - Jim
Dear Bob and Ken, Your
instructions were right on the money. Had it
done and working in a little over and hour!
Hubby cleaned the house and is now making
his very special Ham (Hockey Pucs) Burgers
for dinner. I think I've been duped cause
now he wants me to rotate the tires and do
the oil changes!!!! I'll show him, I'll use
Crisco on the oil changes. What grade to you
recommend? Just kidding, Thanks a lot for
your quick response. - Peg (Trixie)
Thanks guys, I found one
several friends have used who were treated
well. - Doug
Thanks. have a great day. -
Cesar
Thanks, the code 3 was a
code 33, which I think is a map or a maf
problem. So off in that direction I go.
Thanks again. - Woody
Dear Bob and Ken, It does
help ... I suspected it already, but wanted
the real scoop. Unfortunately, cars just
aren't the way they used to be when you
could fix little things yourself. Everything
is so computerized these days (I say, as I
type away on my computer, ha ha ha). Thanks
for your direct answer. I appreciate it and
believe me, the next time I have another
question, you'll be the first I turn
to.-Jill
Thanks for y'all help ...it
turned out that my carb. was fried thanks
