1998 Ford Taurus is it my water pump?

I just changed out my thermostat thinking it was the cause of my car overheating but it seems to still be doing the same thing. At idle it does not overheat but with any throttle involved it heats up and cools back down very slowly when I let off the throttle. The heater is not working through all this and for some reason my oil light is barely flickering in the dashboard.

Check oil pressure switch maybe replace it
would be my 1st step
(unless you have the gauges set to check oil pressure )

check water pump if pumping coolant through the system

Would my oil pressure have anything to do with not having any heat blowing out of my vents?

Very possible specially if have a blown headgasket

How do you check the head gasket for leaks? I really hope that is it as I was thinking it was possibly my oil pump which is no joke to replace on this DOHC engine.

Coolant system pressure test is one
2nd they sell headgasket test kit where fluid is used to check for exhaust gases in the coolant system
