I have a 1994 Subaru Legacy LS with 185000 miles. Right after completeing a tune-up, including replacing the fuel filter and adding fuel system cleaner, the car started to stall in idle. It makes a clicking sound and the car turns off abruptly. The mas air flow sensor has been replaced. The idle error controller was replaced. The connecting hoses were gunked up and cleaned. The car continues to stall in idle even after warmed up. What could be causing the stall and clicking noise? Very Happy

Does the click come from the rear of the vehicle? Also, it is a click and not a ping....yes? If it clicks it might be your fuel pump which is usually located in the fuel tank. You replaced the fuel filter which is great and cleaned out the fuel system but if the pump is not working (it runs off the battery), you are not getting fuel to the engine.

It seems that the ckick is in the front of the car but I could be wrong. It is a defintitive click and only one click and then the car immediately stalls. The car is also starting to run very roughly. It is starting to miss but it does not seem like it is the engine. This an intermittent problem as there are times when the car runs well. Would the fuel pump also make the car run rough? Thanks for your time. greatly appreciated.

Still not sure about your click but if it is running rough you may want to change your spark plugs or check the timing. It sounds as if it may be misfiring. If you have tools, pull a plug (very easy to do) and inspect it.

i am having the same problem( stalling and sputtering, flooding, and feels like timing), but it has gotten so bad my car has been parked unless i am workin on it since november, i have had dealers and mechanics try to help me but nothing seems to help. i have had my engine and timeing checked and everything is great( expecially for a 95 legacy lsi with 195,000 miles on it). i have replaced the spark plugs repeatedly, fuel pump, coil pack, spark plug wires, ecm, camshaft sensor, checked all wires and grounds, had it hooked up to computer, ( forgot the name) the censor that checks vibrations, starter alternator, belts, battery checked, hoses, and couple other none mechanical or sensor parts. i think we have narrowed it down to an factory alarm prob or the throttle body and sensor. bye the way i do have a 2006 pioneer aftermarket cd player installed in the car and i have checked all the wiring to make sure there was no issues with that.
