1999 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Jeep was stolen, they drilled out the ignition. We have replaced the steering column w/one from a salvage yard. I had the cylinder rekeyed to our keys. I can start it from the ignition switch, but when it was put together with the column it started twice and now it won't. Please help I was unemployed for 7 months and this was the vehicle that my daughter drove. I don't have the finances to take it to a dealer. Any help would be appreiciated!
