engine cutting off on my geo

i have been having trouble with my 93 geo storm. its hesitates and then the tack flops up and down from 4 to 1 and then it dies. I have looked for the computer hook up under the dash and under the hood and cant seem to locate it could you please help me i have been told it the fuel pump but would like to have a better idea of what to get to fix it
