I have a 1978 320i (appx 90k) that is beginning to give me trouble when starting up. The engine will always turn over, but sometimes will not crank. This rarely happens on a cold start, but usually when the engine has been off for 30-45 minutes.

Additionally, on cold starts, the engine will crank, but when I put into drive, I get major hesitation. The car will go only about 5 mph even though the gas is fully depressed. After a minute or two, the car will eventually speed up. Any ideas?

If so are there any lights on on the dash? If yes you may need a oxy sensor or 2 or 3 or 4!
