ac compressor not activating. 2002 el 1.7 (canadian model)

this model is only available in canada. 95,000km my ac compressor is not activating all components have been inspected and work fine manually. the thermal switch (protector) was replaced. still not communicating with the computer. took it to dealer they said the thermal switch was not installed properly (not sealing properly) seems fine upon further inspection. what now (ecm?) Maybe a bad terminal at the computer?
