i am currently building a go-kart with the smallest escort motor i could find due to weight on the frame how would i get the motor to idle without putting power to the wheels this is only issue i have with the project if any1 could give me advise i apriciate it i dont knw if i will need to fit in a transfere box if it is too big an engine i may buy a 7 hp motor and how would i also do the same there im not sure how to get it to idle and then give power when i press the accelerator

you will need a clutch if its manual or a torque convertor if its a automatic system.


you could put a clutch system on the engine you have with pulleys and a belt tensioner or a clutch that is sold at many go kart stores.
