Ok it sounds like it is tranyfluid with a few miles on it. It has some metals in it, as the transmission and fluid gets mileage on it this is normal, this is why the fluid and filter should be changed every couple of years. The way I check fluid out is with the chart below as when trans fluid goes bad and the trany is having problems the fluid color changes. So here is the chart that I use. The numbers are in parts per million.
Transmission fluid chart. what color is yours?

This is a unit I am looking to purchase. If I purchase this unit would you suggest me changing the tranny fluid before I drive it 1800 miles based on the metal numbers? I can not answer your question on the look of the fluid as I am not with the vehicle.

Ok when looking to buy a vehicle I suggest a compression test and check all belts and fluids for color. Do they look new or old and neglected. How does the anti freeze look and brake fluid(is it black or clean flush as needed) and engine oil and so on. I also like to check the brakes for wear and check u-joints for tightness and front end for any signs of worn parts and tires for signs of uneven wear. If you buy this truck I recommend changing engine oil, transmission fluid and fuel filter and check air filter and spark plugs. This way you will know where the maintence is. As you know vehicles are mechanical so they can break at anytime without warning too.
