Transmission problem
2006 Nissan Pathfinder 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 29000 miles
I just bought a used 2006 Nissan Pathfinder and was putting t throughthe paces. When I switch from 2WD to 4WD (High mode), the 4WD indicator light flashes briefly and then stops indicating it is in 4WD. But, when I switch back to 2WD, the indicator light flashed for 6 minutes before it registered a static display indicating it is back in 2WD. Is this normal? Or do I have an issue that needs to be resolved? |

If you had the diff locks engaged it can take some time to come out of 4 WD. Most transfers that are motorised do not disengage straight away as the transmisson can wind itself up. the best way to combat this is to reverse the vehicle after turning back to 2WD. There is a problem however with this transfer, the rear driveshaft seal feeds water into the box and should be replaced with a modified seal. Also check that the oil is not contaminated with water. hope this helps. |
