Shakes or Wobbles problem
2006 Jeep Wrangler 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 30100 miles
when i am driving 45 mph or faster, and i hit a pot hole, bump in the road, or go over some RR tracks, my steering wheel violently shimmys side to side and i have to slow down below 40 mph to get it to stop. i was told i should rotate my tires or get a re-alignment, so i did both, it still happens? what do i do?
I am having the exact same issue with my '07 wrangler. I have been told it could be the stearing damper in another forum. don't know what this is, and haven't found the part for anything after '95. I am taking it in to the dealership tomorrow and if I get good answer, I'll let you know!
It is the steering damper or stabilizer! At the dealership it is costing me 136.00 with parts and labor. I have looked up the parts and they can be purchased much cheaper but since I have no idea what I am doing, I am paying for it! I was just glad it wasn't something more. I have been told for months that my tires were unbalanced or there was sh-- in my rims and such, finally I have a real answer! Good luck!
